Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a partner to learn how to dance? A partner is not required! If you are dancing solo on a Private Lesson, your instructor will be your dance partner. If you are coming to a Group Class solo, you will have the opportunity to rotate partners in class – between our instructors and the other students you will have lots of new friendly faces to dance with!

What types of dance do you teach? We offer a wide variety of ballroom and social dances, including Waltz, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing dances, Merengue, Bachata, Salsa – and more! If there is a specific style of dance you are interested in learning, please let us know!

How much does it cost to learn how to dance? We offer several options for new and experienced dancers alike to get to know us and our studio:
*Group Classes range from $15-20 USD per person, per class. See our Classes page for more information about levels and scheduling.
*A Dance Consultation is a sample of our Private Lessons where you will work personally with one of our instructors to learn the fundamentals of moving with a partner and assess your current strengths on the dance floor in order to come up with a game plan for your dance education moving forward. Tuition for Individual dancers is $45, and for couples tuition is $60.

After your Dance Consultation, the cost of tuition will depend on how many lessons and/or group classes you enroll on, which is different for every student depending on schedule, budget, etc. In general, you can expect to pay between $75-100 USD per lesson.

What should I wear to dance? Our students wear a variety of styles of clothing to class, from workout attire to business casual. The most important aspect of your outfit is that you feel comfortable, confident, and are able to move your arms, legs, and body freely.

Below you will also find a link for dance shoes that you can order ahead of class. While these shoes are not mandatory to attend class, we strongly encourage our students to invest in the proper foot attire for safety and to ensure that your footwear doesn’t interfere with your learning process. If you have any questions about sizing, materials, etc. reach out to Maggie at Shall We Dance Designs – she is friendly and knowledgeable and will help you find your perfect fit so you can look and feel fabulous while dancing!

24-Hour Cancellation Policy

We kindly request that you provide us with at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel an appointment for a Dance Consultation or Private Lesson. This time is specially reserved for you, so if you won’t be able to make it we need to make that time available for other students.

Dance Consultations and Private Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a $40 cancellation fee.

Missed Group Class Policy

Group Classes are pre-set at specific times so that the student body can come together and learn as a group. If you have to miss Group Class, you are welcome to attend a different Group Class at your level if one is offered that week. Otherwise, we would be happy to schedule a Private Lesson with you to catch you up on what you missed; the tuition for a Private Lesson is separate from Group Class tuition and must be paid before the Private Lesson takes place.
