Our dance professionals bring years of determination, discipline, teaching and performing experience to the floor.

Our Mission

At Hearts In Rhythm Dance, our focus is on helping people connect to each other through the medium of dance, while embarking on the journey of self-discovery that learning such a dynamic life skill entails. Growth and discovery are what drive our learning sessions – whether they be Private Lessons or Group Classes – and our emphasis is on making this process fun and memorable. We have seen first-hand the incredible changes learning to dance can bring to lives and relationships, and we strive to make these opportunities available to anyone who is curious about dancing and its many benefits.

Our History

A lifelong performer, Amy had several opportunities to audition for Broadway productions and national tours of musicals; one such opportunity led her to explore the fundamentals of ballroom dancing, which ignited a passion she never would have expected. After seeing how ballroom dance changed the landscape of her life, she began sharing her knowledge and skills to spread this joy and curiosity to others.

While serving in the United States Marine Corps, Jesse started to pursue a ballroom dance education as a way to meet people and improve his social skills. He made a myriad of friends and discovered talents on the dance floor he never knew he possessed. As his service was drawing to a close, a local dance studio approached him about becoming an instructor, and his career as a ballroom professional began.

In 2019, Amy packed up her car and moved cross-country from New Jersey to San Diego, CA. They say luck is the nexus of preparation and opportunity: it was certainly a lucky day when Amy and Jesse met on the dance floor and started a partnership that would change both of their lives forever. In a rapidly-changing post-COVID world, she decided to move back to the East Coast to be closer to family – Jesse soon followed, and they set about achieving their goal of making dance education accessible to the people of Sussex County, Delaware.
